The exciting urban attractions in Hong Kong which well known as the sophisticated fusion of the east and the west have got me on a plane to visit this heart of Asia. During my transit flight from the States to Malaysia, I had decided to extend my stays in Hong Kong for a week to experience the fast pace city life of this well known country.
My travel style is close to slow pace travel where I could spend my whole day following the nearby attractions shown on google map rather than following the well planned packed itinerary in my excel sheet. My travel to each country is often more than five days where I feel I could spend more time in understanding the cultural experiences as well as feeling the lives as the local. Thus, you will find my itinerary is less focusing on most tourist attractions. Most of my Hong Kong friends told me my travel style doesn't suit Hong Kong at all, but I still found my comfort time during my stays here!
Flight: Qatar to Hong Kong International Airport (Terminal 1)
*Octopus Card*
After passing my immigration and collected my luggage, I proceed to 7-11 straight to purchase the tourist 'Octopus Card' which cost HKD39 ($1HKD~$0.132USD/ $1HKD~RM0.50) and top up with HKD100. This tourist Octopus Card is slightly expensive compared to the local adult Octopus Card but the design is different compared to the standard local Octopus Card.

*Telecommunication*
First, I planned to take up the plan selling in
7-11. However, after checking the price, I found out the plan is too pricy for
7 days unlimited data:
3HK 7 Day Pass 4G-LTE Local Mobile Data Prepaid SIM card $88
- $88/7 days LTE Local Data Package
- Local Airtime $0.1/min
- Supports IDD calls
*Remark: The above charges and terms
& conditions are set by the telecommunications supplier and are subject to
change without notice
Thus, I bought another plan through klook on the
spot and they allow pick up at the counter.
4G or 3G SIM Card (HK Airport Pick Up) $53
- Enjoy 8 days of unlimited 3G data use with a prepaid Hong Kong Tourist SIM Card
- Get faster surfing with the 5-day Hong Kong 4G Prepaid SIM Card with 1.5GB data
- Pick up available at Hong Kong International Airport for your convenience
- IDD Calling available on the Hong Kong 4G SIM Card
- Nano, Micro and Mini SIMs available
*Airport Transfer*

Buses are the cheapest way to get to and from Hong Kong
International Airport. Since my accommodation will be located at Sheung
Wan which is the Northern Part of Hong Kong Island. Thus I took route A11
serviced by Cityflyer which cost me HKD$40. Octopus Card can be used.
'A' routes are the most comfortable among all airport bus routes. Hong Kong island is service by 3 Cityflyer routes (A10/A11/A12), and the route A11 is the most popular with tourists. The route is serviced by double-decked buses with air-conditioning. The large luggage racks allow to store your luggage while you enjoy the bus ride. The bus stop (Ground Transportation Centre) is situated outside the Arrival Hall on the right.

finest hotels and dining in this area. The island is further divided into Central &
Western, Wan Chai, Eastern and Southern districts. Some of the oldest parts of
the city are located in the Central & Western districts. The Lan Kwai Fong
and Soho neighborhoods are the best places for dining, visiting nightclubs, and
seeing art galleries. Also, the Central and Wan Chai districts are the
financial heart of the city. The Eastern District is home to good fish
restaurants and a racecourse. The Southern District has good beaches and

The Hong Kong SAR comprises three main regions:
Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories. This didn't include the outlying island where Lantau Island is the largest island.
1. Hong Kong Island
2.Kowloon
One of the most hustle and bustle area is non
other than Kowloon. Here is the area where most of the population located. Tsim
Sha Tsui, Yau Ma Tei and Mongkok are very popular among tourists. You will find
the famous street markets in Mongkok and Yau Ma Tei, and many shopping malls
throughout Kowloon. Don't miss a chance to visit the themed museums, including
the art, history, space and science museums. The waterfront area of Tsim Sha
Tsui is a very popular place, where you will see a promenade devoted to local
movie stars. It is the excellent place to start your exploration of Kowloon.
The Hong Kong Museum of Art, located nearby, is a nice place for anyone who
would wish to catch a glimpse of the rich Chinese culture.
3. New Territories
In the past, the
New Territories constituted just a peaceful countryside that had duck farms,
old villages and fields. Today the region has become the one of the growing
population of Hong Kong. It occupies a major part of Hong Kong's territory from
the Boundary Street of Kowloon on the south till the Sham Chun River on the
north, which is the border between Hong Kong and Mainland China. Also, it
comprises over 200 Outlying Islands. Several temples are in the area, including
the famous 10,000 Buddhas temple.
4. Outlying Island
The islands are an important part of Hong Kong
and are listed in any area guide. Lantau is the largest island, and is famous
for both beaches and mountains that draw in a lot of visitors. Some of the key
attractions include a Disneyland theme park and Po Lin monastery that is
accessed via cable car on this island. Also, this island is home to the famous
Tian Tan Giant Buddha Statue. The Outlying Islands are diverse, ranging from
uninhabited, rocky islands to larger islands that are well-populated. You're
very likely to see fishermen at work, using traditional fishing methods. The
local island restaurants offer some of the best seafood you'll ever try. Also,
there are several beaches that have interesting rock formations.

Personal Review: I would say the foods are not bad, but it wouldn't give you a WOW feeling like oh I will definitely come back for these. the portion is slightly smaller compared to Malaysia food's portion and quite pricy. We have total of 7 people, ordered 6 dishes and one soup and the total bill is HKD$854.
*Ladies Market Mongkok
The
Ladies' Market is a must-see market when visiting Hong Kong. It was the first legal hawker street since
1975. When started, this street only selling women’s stuffs like clothing,
shoes, make-up etc, where now, every other stall sells much of the same.
Low-quality fake purses, phone cases, t-shirts, and low-quality souvenirs.
There are some oil paintings, but I think the prices are too high. There are
better quality paintings and better-priced ones in Stanley Market.

*怡和午炮Jardine Noonday Gun*

| You will see this sign when you come out from a shopping mall back stair entrance. I don's know exactly where, it was lead by my Hong Kongese's freinds. |
The Jardine
Noonday Gun is a former naval artillery
piece mounted on a small enclosed site near the Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter on
Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. Owned and operated by Jardine Matheson, the gun is
fired every day at noon and has become a tourist attraction. By the time I
arrived, it was around 11pm, if you wish to witness the gun shot, definitely
recommend you to reach before 12pm daily.
*Harbour City 海港城*
I think the incredible
night view of Victoria Harbour is the first thing comes to your mind whenever
you think of Hong Kong. However, no
matter you take the tram up to the Victoria Peak or spent a hundred bucks to
enjoy your leisure in Sky100 Hong Kong observation deck, it’s non better than
watching the 270 degree view of Victoria Harbour in Harbour City for free. The newly built ocean terminal deck can be access through the Harbour City Mall which also the largest shopping mall in Hong Kong. So if you by chance finding some leisure place to enjoy the wind breeze, you must drop by here and visit the incredible night view scene.
