I wake up at 5.30am at the morning and just have my breakfast at one of the Chinese Traditional Restaurant 'Cha Chan Teng' downstair of my house in Sheung Wan.There is no any specific reason of choosing this restaurant, just because I woke up too early and this is the only restaurant that is ready.

After I finished my breakfast, I just sit at the restaurant until the MTR station start operating at around 6am. Then I take the MTR from Sheung Wan (Island Line) to Tung Chung (Tung Chung Line) station to start my hike.

Right after I arrive at Tung Chung Station, I begin my hike here instead of taking bus to Pak Kung Au. My hike took me around 3 hours from Tung Chung MTR station to Ngong Ping Tian Tan Big Buddha. (If you wish to know more details about the hike, you may check my another post on more details about the hike⌣⌣)

*Wisdom Path 心经简林*

The heart of the Jianlin is located at the foothills of Lantau Peak. It is the heart of the master of Chinese studies, Professor Rao Zong Yi. The whole calligraphy is engraved on the wooden pillars of the garden. Because it resembles the ancient bamboo slips, it is called "Heart Sutra".

The full name of Sanskrit in "Heart Sutra" is "The Prajna Paramita Sutra", which is the symbol of wisdom and perfection in Sanskrit. The scriptures engraved in Jianlin is the translation of the Tang Dynasty Xuan Zang Master, and also the Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism.This outdoor wooden pillar group consists of 38 pear-wood columns of 8 meters to 10 meters long and 1 meter wide. It is arranged in an infinite symbol (∞) according to the natural mountain potential, representing the endless life. The highest point of the wooden column group is the wooden column numbered 23, which is intentionally left blank to symbolize the essence of the "empty" of the Heart Sutra. Professor Rao Zongxi pointed out that the deepest meaning of "Heart Sutra" lies in "innocent."

*Nyong Ping Big Buddha*

The Tian Tan Big Buddha is located at Nyong Ping, Lantau Island. This is one of the top sightseeing tourist attraction in Hong Kong. The Tian Tan Big Buddha statue is completed in the year of 1993 with 34m/112 feet height and 250 metric tons. One thing to mention is the Tian Tan Big Buddha is the second largest outdoor sitting buddha in the world after Taiwan. Interestingly, the Big Buddha is even visible from Macau on a clear day.

It's truly tiring after the extremely exhausted hike. So now it's the time to recover myself by eating something good!

*Nyong Ping Village*

After had a satisfying brunch, its time to walk around the Nyong Ping Village before continue the next stop to Tai O. Nyong Ping Village isn't very big, even you walk slowly, I think can be finish in half an hour. There's nothing much to shop, may be just a few spots for photos?

This Fortune Kitty attracted me a lot as it is so cute!

I just walk until 1pm as the next bus to Tai O will be departing at 1pm. I would suggest queue up at least 20 minutes earlier! I went to the bus station which just outside of the village 15 minutes earlier as I feel boring inside the Nyong Ping village after walked for almost 45 minutes. However, I am glad that I came out earlier.As the queue of bus to Tai O is no jokes! I was the second last person who manage to get a spot for 1pm bus. The people behind me will have to wait for the next bus which is I don't really remember it's 30 minutes or 45 minutes after.

One thing really convenient in Hong Kong is 'Octopus Card' can really settle every transportation fees. So you have no worries on buying the bus ticket! It took around 15- 20 minutes to reach Tai O from Nyong Ping village.

This small village has caught my eyes the most for the whole day. May be because I really like stilt houses. This small little fishing town is the home to the Tanka people, a community of fisher folk who’ve built their houses on stilts above the tidal flats of Lantau Island for generations. These unusual structures are interconnected, forming a tightly knit community that literally lives on the water. Their enchanting world is a photographer's paradise.

The manually operated drawbridge that spans the narrow creek dividing the town replaced a rope-drawn ‘ferry’ that operated for over 85 years.

I am feeling truly satisfied after a half day hiking trip at the Lantau Island. After two hours good rest back in Sheung Wan, let's treat myself a good dinner to end my day!
